The Power of Good
Hair Extension Products
If you want to prolong the life of your hair extensions, you must use the right hair extension products.
When shopping for the right products, it can be overwhelming! With so many choices, it can cause us to spend more money than necessary.
Hair extensions are not like natural hair that grows from the scalp. Natural hair gets nutrients and oils from the root.
Extensions do not, so keeping them moisturized is a must!
Milbon Hairserum M Shampoo 6.8 oz
It cleanses the hair really well without leaving a heavy build up on the extensions. Hair extensions can tangle when there is dirt, sweat and product buildup. The Milbon Hairserum M Shampoo cleanses the hair really well and is a great partner to the Milbon Hairserum M Treatment which I use a conditioner.
Milbon Hairserum Treatment M 7.1 oz
I use this as a conditioner even though it is a mask treatment. A little product goes a long way! Make sure to stay away from the hair extension attachments. Leave it on for 2 to 7 minutes. The longer you leave it on, the more hydrated your hair extensions will be.
Lakme Lak 2 Instant Hair Conditioner 10.2 Oz
I use this when my hair needs some moisture. Got kids? It's also an outstanding detangler! The scent is intoxicating! I use this on my daughter all the time. Love it!
For Coverage & Oily Roots
ORIBE Dry Texturizing Spray, 8.5 oz
If you have oily roots or have hair that is too soft and needs to stay in place to help cover hair extensions, this is the product for you! This luxury product smells sooo good that you will have people notice and may even get a compliment.
TRESemme Tres Two Hair Spray, Mega Firm Control 11 oz
A must-have for anyone who wears hair extensions. It will help with coverage and smooth down any flyaways in your hair. This one has the right hairspray ingredient concoction. Want more hold, spray more. Want a flexible hold, spray less. It's really that simple. I also feel it adds some shine to the hair. My absolute favorite hairspray. Woot Woot!
Hair Extension Products
No one wants their blonde hair extensions to turn brassy, orange or anything other then what they invested in!
Some platinum blonde hair extensions have turned brassy or got a tinge of yellow. I've seen it! So what's up? This usually happens after a vacation that involves SWIM-SUN-& SWEAT. Sounds like paradise? Yes, except for the sweat part. Know this.
- Oceans, lakes & well-water have minerals like calcium, magnesium and copper which can cause hair to turn a brassy tone.
- Pools have chlorine that can dry out hair and disrupt hair color which may turn blonde hair green. Yikes!
Sunscreen for Hair Extensions
Clarins SPF 30 Sunscreen Care Oil Spray, 5.0 Ounce
The suns UV rays can penetrate your hair and leave a tinge of yellow. This product will help protect your blonde hair extensions.
I know I'm repeating myself but it's important.
When it comes to hair extensions and oil-based products, NEVER EVER apply it on your extension attachments. It can cause slippage. ONLY apply it from the middle part to the ends of your hair.
Shampoo & Conditioner
for Blonde Hair Extensions
Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner
Some shampoos with parabens, silicones and sulfates can play a part to brassiness. Safe option is to use a violet-based shampoo and conditioner.
Just make sure to alternate with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner like the Milbon I recommended to keep your hair extensions soft and healthy.
Hair Dryer For Hair Extensions
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Iron/Fuchsia
Just like there are essential wardrobe items like a simple black dress, there are essential hair tool items like this hair dryer. It's no joke. It drys your hair in 1/2 the time, is lightweight and prevents heat damage to your hair and hair extensions.
It will help keep hair extensions looking healthy, shiny and smooth.
This is a must-have! It's probably the most used tool we use on our hair.
What does sweat have to do with it? If you use tinted sunscreens or tan-sprays and your sweating with your blonde locks touching your skin, most likely that can be a culprit to discolored blonde hair extensions.
This is free and for my organic lovers, you can't get more natural then this! Before I go to bed, I wet my hairbrush with WATER then brush through my extensions. My hair is slightly damp. I then braid my hair. Next day, my hair is super soft, hydrated and wavy.
