Keratin Bond, Pre-bonded Hair Extensions

Keratip, Glue Method & Heat Method

Advantages:  Keratin hair extensions can last up to 5 or 6 months.  Some people do better with 3 to 4 months.  It all depends on how fine or thick your hair is.

These keratin bonds can be cut vertically and horizontally to any size.   For example, if you have very fine hair with low density the bond may be cut both vertically and horizontally so that the keratin is smaller in size and is lighter in weight.

With keratin bonds you can customize colors very easily.  Let’s say your hair has highlights and lowlights.   Two different hair extension colors that match your highlight and lowlight can be heated together to create a blended more natural look.

Things to Consider:  In some cases lengthy application time (the more hair used the longer the process on the flip side the less hair used the quicker application can be) , the removal can take some time

Application Method:  The  keratin tip is made from a man-made protein.  When heated with a hot tool the keratin tip will be moldable allowing the stylist to create a bond that should resemble a grain of rice in the head.  It is attached to your own hair that should equal the same amount of the extension hair  or at least 3/4 so that your own hair can support the weight of the extension.

Extension Removal:  To remove keratin bonds, a solution that is 98% alcohol is used to wet the bonds.  I use Everclear alcohol which can be purchased at your local liquor store or I use the hair extension companies remover solution.

Once the keratin bond is wet from the solution, a small pair of pliers is used to break down the bond.  I like for my pliers to have a flat surface instead of the ones that have ridges in it.  I feel it is more gentle on the hair.
